Course Placement
Course Placement
Course placement is critical in determining your place in class, and is one of the first steps to enrollment. As a college, Skagit Valley College serves a very diverse population. We offer a wide variety of skill-building classes, and knowing where to start your coursework is critical for student success. In order to determine your best starting point, your reading and mathematics skills will be assessed. This will tell us the level of coursework for which you are prepared, as well as your readiness for entry into specific programs. Recommendations range from skill-building courses through college level classes.
Which assessment method is the best for you?
Your situation determines what placement option is the best fit for you (it might be different for your English than for your math or vice-versa). Skagit Valley College will honor the highest of your course placements if you chose to submit scores from various methods. Therefore, you want to make sure to review all your options.
