GED® Testing

The Testing Center is open Monday – Wednesday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM for in-person testing. Please visit GED.com to make an appointment to take your test.

The GED® is a series of tests that provide individuals with a certificate of competency if they have not completed their high school education. The exam consists of four separate tests, one for each of the following areas: Social Studies, Science, Mathematical Reasoning, and Reasoning through Language Arts (RLA).
Skagit Valley College offers GED® testing at the Mount Vernon and Whidbey Island Campuses.

Requirements

To take the GED® exam, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Have a current Washington State-issued ID
  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Currently not attending high school
  • If under 19 years of age, candidates must provide a high school release form (obtainable from a high school in the area where you currently live), or if homeschooled, a notarized statement of homeschooling.

A valid form of Identification (ID) is required and must include the candidate’s address, date of birth, signature, and photograph. Acceptable forms of ID are:

  • Washington State Driver’s License
  • Washington State Photo ID
  • Military ID
  • Valid passport

Note: Student ID cards, ASB cards, temporary driver’s license/ID, out of state ID and expired ID are not acceptable forms of ID.

 

Costs

The cost for the full exam is $120 ($30 per test subject). Retest fees are $30 per test subject. Fees are payable online at www.ged.com or by calling Pearson Vue Customer Service at 877.392.6433.

The Basic Education for Adults (BEdA) Department at Skagit Valley College offers courses to help you prepare to take the GED® exams. Attend a College Information Session to learn more, and apply for admissions to get started.
