Basic Education for Adults
High School Completion
Our High School Completion programs help you earn the credential you need to prepare for post-secondary education, further training, military service, or employment. SVC has several options for adult students who want to complete high school.
About the Program
Adult High School Diploma (HS+) is a competency-based high school completion program designed for adults 21 years of age or older who do not have a high school diploma or GED®. Students who are 16-20 years of age can also complete a high school diploma at Skagit Valley College by meeting a few additional requirements. High school competency requirements may be met through high school or college coursework and/or prior learning gained from work, life, and/or military experience. Unmet requirements may be achieved through additional coursework at Skagit Valley College. HS+ students may be able to take college level courses as part of their high school diploma and earn dual credit towards both a high school diploma and a college degree.
Benefits of earning your high school diploma from the HS+ program
- Earn a valid Washington State High School Diploma;
- Credit may be awarded for your life or work experiences that meet the required competencies;

- If you are 16-18, you must provide a high school release form (obtainable from the high school where you currently live), or if homeschooled, a notarized statement of homeschooling. Students 16-20 years of age should also explore SVC's Open Doors program as a possible option for completing a high school diploma.
